Blog Post 3: Researching my topic

In this blog post today, I will be analyzing some statistics and research I have found, along with using this to prove my point that exercise is necessary for good heart health. Starting off, there is a bit of an obesity epidemic among all people, predominantly adults. The American Heart Association reported in 2015 that around 69% of adults were in some way obese or overweight (The Price (2)). To have nearly 7 out of 10 people be overweight like that is not good for the world and the people who are obese, because as mentioned before obesity greatly hinders heart health and overall body health. This percentage will only raise, as it is becoming easier and easier for people to access unhealthy food options, contrary to the healthy foods filled with vitamins and other nutrients. Along with the exponential growth in production of unhealthy foods, it has become easier for people to not exercise with the rise in technology. This is only becoming easier in quarantine, as people are not allowed to go out in public, so a lot of people are not exercising and are eating a lot of bad foods. Obesity and increased consumption in unhealthy foods have been heavily linked with heart problems later in life (Cover Story (3)). Part of this is heart disease, which is a critical and potentially lethal problem for many people. For people who already developed heart disease, exercise is a necessary frequent practice for them to complete. Exercise for people with heart disease can help hinder the chances of death (due to the disease of course), the necessity for major heart surgeries, and it also can lower the chances of heart attacks and the frequency of them (Exercise (1)). A consistent exercise plan can help save lives, and can be very entertaining for people as well. Life is obviously very important, and if exercising can prolong it, then I believe that everyone should exercise consistently, not just those with heart disease.
